We recently completed work on this garden in Cavendish, Suffolk.
At our initial meeting, my clients were slightly despairing about what could be done with their newly acquired ‘garden’. A large garage had dominated the site, which they had removed to give them more space. However, they were faced with what looked like a building site and found it hard to see beyond this to the potential of the space. I assured them that there was so much possibility for their small space, and this was exactly the kind of challenge that I love!
The garden is newly built and planted so its full potential will emerge with time, but already it feels like a restful retreat and a space where they can entertain their extended family, which was top of their list. Encouraging wildlife was also a high priority, and they are delighted that bees have already been visiting the Heptacodium tree, highlighting the importance of later-flowering plants.
